The product is designed for practicing the Heimlich maneuver. The manikin is anatomically and physiologically modeled to match infant characteristics, making it suitable for emergency airway foreign body situations. Airway foreign body obstructions are particularly common in infants and children due to their immature epiglottal cartilage and underdeveloped airway functions. When infants and children speak, cry, laugh, or engage in active activities with objects in their mouths, there is a higher risk of inhaling foreign objects, leading to airway blockages and choking.
1) Back Blow Method:
- Position the patient in a seated or prone position with the head lower than the trunk.
- Secure the head and place the infant across the rescuer’s arm, resting on their thigh.
- Deliver 4-6 firm back blows to create a sudden increase in airway pressure, helping to dislodge and remove the foreign body.
2) Chest Thrust Method:
- Place the patient in a supine position across the rescuer’s arm, ensuring the head is slightly lower than the trunk.
- Perform 4-6 chest compressions between the nipples using two fingers.
- Both methods can be alternated as necessary until the foreign body is cleared or the patient becomes unconscious.
Features:
- Artificial Respiration and External Chest Compression
- Simulation of a Natural Airway
- Airway Opening and Chest Compression
- Chest Rise Upon Airway Opening
- Simulation of Foreign-Body Airway Obstruction
